Ukreximbank Recognized as the Best Issuing Bank in Eastern Europe under the IFC GTFP Program

10/04/2026

State-owned Ukreximbank has received the “Best Issuing Bank under the Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP) in Eastern Europe” international award from IFC, based on the 2025 results.

This recognition confirms Ukreximbank’s leadership in trade finance and its systemic support for Ukrainian clients in international trade, even amid the heightened wartime risks.

“This recognition from IFC is a signal not only to the financial community but also to global markets: the Ukrainian banking system is operating, developing, and continuing its gradual integration into the global market and, most importantly, is capable of providing businesses with high-quality support for international trade even under increased risk conditions. Ukreximbank not only performs banking functions, but is also a key element of the country’s financial architecture, ensuring the connection between Ukrainian businesses and global markets. The GTFP strengthens this role by creating a bridge of trust between Ukrainian companies and foreign partners,” said Viktor Ponomarenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukreximbank.

International-Level Recognition

The IFC Awards 2026 honor the most effective partner banks in trade finance and supply chain finance across emerging markets.

Ukreximbank was named the best issuing bank in Eastern Europe, demonstrating:

the highest transaction volumes under the GTFP since joining the program in 2008; a stable upward trend in supporting clients’ foreign economic contracts; effective work with international guarantees that provide access to financing even in challenging market conditions.

This is the second IFC recognition for the bank: in 2024, Ukreximbank received an Honorable Mention in Eastern Europe.

Tangible Benefits for Businesses

Thanks to its participation in the GTFP, Ukreximbank’s clients receive:

access to IFC guarantees that reduce risks for foreign partners; the ability to conclude international contracts faster and on more favorable terms; support for export operations of Ukrainian companies in foreign markets; financing for the import of critical goods.

“For us, this award is first and foremost about clients and the economy. Participation in the GTFP enables Ukrainian businesses to access financing and reduce the risks inherent in international trade. In essence, it is a tool that stimulates the bank’s clients’ export and import activities and ensures the continuity of Ukraine’s foreign trade,” noted Olena Kozoriz, Head of Financial Institutions of the International Business Department at Ukreximbank.

Trust That Works for the Economy

The Global Trade Finance Program unites more than 225 banks in 71 countries and provides IFC guarantees for trade finance instruments.

For Ukraine, this is a critically important mechanism, as it:

  • allows foreign banks to confirm transactions of Ukrainian companies;
  • supports continuity of imports and exports;
  • strengthens international confidence in Ukraine’s financial system.

The award received is independent confirmation that Ukreximbank remains a reliable partner for foreign banks, including in trade finance operations, and a key conduit for Ukrainian businesses to global markets.
