During the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, Ukreximbank and SACE S.p.A., the insurance and financial group fully owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU” or “Memorandum”) to expand cooperation in priority sectors of the economy and jointly seek effective financial solutions.
The objective of this MoU is to formalize a basis for cooperation in order to provide the Parties with complementary advantages and mutual benefits through cooperative efforts and friendly consultation.
The Memorandum provides for strengthening partnerships between the parties, particularly in the areas of the agro-related, advanced machinery, chemical and transportation industries. The document is of a framework nature and lays the foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation through friendly consultations and the identification of operations of mutual interest.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties will explore opportunities for joint project financing, including through credit, insurance, and guarantee instruments and long term tied facilities in favor of Ukrainian government or companies in relation to projects involving Italian exporters in the abovementioned industries.
The document is valid for two years, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
"This Memorandum lays the foundation for deepening Ukrainian-Italian economic cooperation. We highly appreciate the trust from SACE and are convinced that combining our expertise will allow us to implement investment projects that will contribute to the sustainable recovery and modernization of the Ukrainian economy," said Viktor Ponomarenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukreximbank.
