Mr. Laszlo Urban – Member of the Supervisory Board, an independent member
Graduated from Budapest University of Economics in 1982, where in 1985 earned a doctorate. Completed postgraduate studies at UC Berkeley Business School (1988-89) and Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University (1992-93). Took an Advanced Management Program course at Harvard Business School.
Has over 25 years of professional experience in the banking sector.
Began his career with academic teaching of economics, political economy and finance at Budapest University of Economics and Eotvos University.
After the collapse of the communist regime in Hungary, was the chief economic adviser to the Fidesz party, and in 1994 became a member of the parliament.
In 1995-96, worked at the World Bank in Washington, DC, USA.
Upon returning to Hungary, became the Head of ABN-AMRO Bank Planning and Controlling Department, and later the Deputy Director General of Postabank.
From 2000 to 2005, served as Vice President and Global Product Manager at Citibank, New York, USA.
In 2005 returned to Hungary as CEO of the Hungarian National Bank.
Served as the Chief Financial Officer and Board Member of OTP Banking Group in 2007-2009 and as a Member of the EBRD Board of Directors in London in 2010-11.
In 2012-2017, worked as an adjunct professor at the Business School of the Central European University (Budapest).
From 2016 to June 2020, was a member of the Supervisory Board of Nova Ljubljanska Banka in Slovenia.
In November 2019, was appointed a member of the Supervisory Board of JSC "Ukreximbank".
