Ukreximbank and EBRD signed USD250 million Subordinated Loan Agreement

Within the support by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of viable and systemically important banks in Ukraine in order to overcome the financial crisis, Joint Stock Company The State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine (JSC Ukreximbank) has received the largest-ever single investment in Ukraine.

The USD250 million subordinated loan shall be channeled to support real economy of Ukraine. This 10-year Tier II capital loan will boost Ukrexim capital base and facilitate its continued lending to Ukrainian enterprises.

Part of the loan, up to USD50 million, will be used to finance energy efficiency projects. At least another USD50 million will be allocated to export-oriented Ukrainian companies.

Agreement signing ceremony was held in London during the EBRD 2009 Annual Meeting & Business Forum.

The implementation of such an important transaction is also expected to improve overall market confidence in the banking sector of Ukraine.
